A transformer explosion and a train derailment Wednesday caused two Major League Baseball games to be postponed, but stranger things have caused the cancellations of sporting events.

Like epidemics, assassinations, power outages and riots.

Wednesday and Thursday's games at Baltimore's Camden Yards, postponed because of the derailment of a train carrying hazardous materials, are the latest uncommon cancellations.
