'Playing by the Rules: Video Games and Cultural Policy': Conference at Museum of Contemporary Art, Univ.of Chicago.

CHICAGO, Oct. 16 (AScribe News) -- The public debate over video games and their impact on our children and culture has been passionate, but often uninformed and inconclusive. An upcoming conference sponsored by the University of Chicago's Cultural Policy Center has the potential to change this. On Friday and Saturday, October 26 and 27, many of the most important and interesting voices in the debate will be brought together for two days of intensive discussion.

The conference will explore the educational, imaginative and community-building potential of video games, as well as the dangers some games may pose. Researchers will detail the evidence about the ways in which video games can affect the way we learn, the attitudes we have, the bonds we form, and the art we create. Participants will offer their views about how these research findings do or do not suggest a need for changes in public policies.
