Boy, 3, finds gun and kills himself Stickney police treat case as accident, family is devastated

A 3-year-old Stickney boy got hold of a Glock 9mm semiautomatichandgun at his home Wednesday and fatally shot himself in the head.

The boy's father and a female friend, who made the 911 call at10:35 a.m., were in the west suburban home when the boy fired the gunand collapsed in the living room, said Stickney Deputy Chief CarlJozefik. A source close to the probe says the child was in hisfather's room, apparently climbed up on the bed and retrieved thegun, which was lying near or on the headboard.
