NSW: ICAC told Oasis players should be cleared of corruption

A NSW corruption inquiry's been told that political and public figures implicated inalleged improper conduct relating to the controversial Oasis development should be cleared.

The Independent Commission Against Corruption is hearing final submissions followingan inquiry into allegations of bribery relating to the $1 billion project at Liverpool,in western Sydney.

It's alleged a $1 million donation was sought for the ALP to remove government hurdles.

In his submission today, counsel assisting ICAC, DAVID STAEHLI, has concluded thatno action should be taken against Liverpool Mayor GEORGE PACIULLO, his council's generalmanager BRIAN CARR, Fisheries Minister EDDIE OBEID, former Bulldogs chief GARY MCINTYRE,director ARTHUR COOREY, and senior Macquarie Bank executive BILL MOSS.

Mr STAEHLI says in most cases, conflicting versions of the events involving the menhave made made it difficult to conclude any corrupt conduct.
