PSDI CITED AS LEADING SUPPLIER OF MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE

Automation Research Corporation Study Indicates Market to Top 1.3

                         Billion by the Year 2000

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., May 2 /PRNewswire/ -- PSDI (Nasdaq: PSDI) today announced that it has been recognized as the 1995 leading supplier of maintenance management software, according to a study published on April 26, 1996 by Automation Research Corporation (ARC). With PSDI's recent acquisition of Maintenance Automation Corporation, PSDI is now the world's largest provider of maintenance management software and services.

The study, entitled "Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) Global Outlook," indicates that worldwide maintenance management revenue was greater that $550 million in 1995 and is expected to exceed $1.3 billion by the year 2000. The study also indicates that there is growth in all aspects of the maintenance management market, from standalone PC applications to large, multi-site applications. The overall market is expected to grow almost 30% from 1995 to 1996 with an average annual growth rate of nearly 19% through the year 2000.

"The ARC study confirms the acceptance of our products across all market segments," said Dean Goodermote, PSDI president. "We have retained our leading position in facilities maintenance and discrete manufacturing, and have become one of the top four providers of maintenance software to the process industry, a market segment we have targeted with specific technical product enhancements over the past two years."

According to the ARC study, the CMMS market is expected to exceed the billion dollar level by 1998. This is largely due to the realization by manufacturers that return-on-investment and the bottom- line savings are imperative in gaining a competitive advantage. ARC acknowledges that over the past two years, manufacturers have pared expenses to a bare minimum, and recognized that maintenance management software greatly benefits both the supplier and the user by maximizing plant output and reducing emergency shutdowns.

Asserting the significance of the market's shift to client/server technology, ARC estimates that by the year 2000, 80% of the maintenance management software revenues will be from client/server systems. "PSDI led the migration to client/server CMMS solutions beginning in 1991, and the company's leadership and innovation have paved the way for many of the major suppliers to adopt this technology," said Steve Clouther, ARC vice president. "PSDI has taken advantage of the growing acceptance of the advancements in enterprise maintenance management technology, and this study confirms its tremendous momentum in this market."
