South Korea-based telecom service provider KT has extended its high-speed broadband wireless network to 85 percent of the nation's population. The second-biggest mobile firm in South Korea has expanded its 4G WiBro infrastructure from 5 cities to 82 new cities. It pointed out that this augmentation would let its subscribers access three times faster Internet services on the move compared to the current 3G network. South Korea, which has a population of 50 million, is already one of the most developed nations in the world in terms of telecom and Internet services. Its smartphone user base was 7.2 million as of December 2010.
